Luce
Luce is a series of 12 oil paintings on Belgian linen housed in a leather case, inspired by a 7th century Coptic binding. The colors in the paintings and the bands correspond to the 12 divine Rays of Light, each one having a correspondence with a specific solar sign, or quality of consciousness. The Rays have attributes of color, vibration, and other significant qualities; which, when taken together make up the fabric of our entire Universe. The long bands enveloping the book were woven with the collaboration of a cooperative of weavers founded in 1928 in the remote Val Mustair (Monastery Valley in Romansh language), Switzerland. The book folds and unfolds like a meditation, leading the viewer into an inward personal journey.
